The Volvo XC40 is a two-row subcompact crossover with a generous amount of space and a chassis that provides a nice balance of handling and comfort. The interior is attractively furnished and higher trim levels have a more upscale feel. Volvo is famous for safety and you can see that reaffirmed in the list of standard safety features. Here are some of the other outstanding qualities in the new Volvo XC40 for 2025 and how it's different from the 2024 models. Meanwhile, we have a good selection of 2025 Volvo XC40 SUVs available right now at Sandberg Volvo Cars in Lynwood, WA.
What's new for 2025 in the Volvo XC40?
The Ultimate trim level has been renamed the Ultra and the Dark theme has been discontinued for the Core trim. In addition, the Core trim now comes with power-folding headrests. The XC40 now offers a new exterior paint color called Sand Dune that replaces the previous Bright Dusk. Beyond those few changes, the XC40 continues essentially unchanged. The XC40 operates exclusively with all-wheel drive and front-wheel-drive models are no longer available.
Performance
Every new 2025 Volvo XC40 is powered by a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine that produces 247 horsepower and is assisted by a 48-volt hybrid system. As mentioned above, all-wheel drive is now standard across the lineup and so is a smooth eight-speed automatic transmission. The Volvo XC40 gives drivers in the Seattle-Tacoma area a remarkable 3500 pounds of towing capacity, something you don't usually find in a compact luxury crossover. When it comes to acceleration, the new 2025 Volvo XC40 can take you from zero 60 mph in 6.1 seconds. Fuel economy is gratifying, coming in at 24 MPG in the city and 30 MPG on highways around Marysville, WA and Everett, WA.
